REFS is headed by John Baczewski, CPA, CRE, who brings more than 30 years of experience to his role as a trusted advisor and practical problem solver.
John has spent his decades-long career serving the accounting, finance, research, and fiduciary needs of institutional real estate investment clients. He has developed a wide network of equally experienced professionals who can be engaged on an as-needed basis.
John Baczewski, President, and Founder
John Baczewski, CPA, CRE is president of Real Estate Fiduciary Services, LLC (REFS), which provides independent fiduciary services and consulting to investors and operators. John has over 30 years of experience in institutional real estate investment, finance, management, and monitoring, along with 10 years of Big Four public accounting experience.
John’s breadth and depth of institutional real estate experience include independent fiduciary services, investment strategy development, portfolio and asset management, due diligence and transaction management, operational reviews, accounting, performance measurement, client service, and capital formation.
John is a Counselor of Real Estate, a professional fellow of the Homer Hoyt Institute, an Editorial Board Member of The Institutional Real Estate Letter- Americas, and serves as a director of Benchmark Research Technologies, a research and strategic consulting firm serving the real estate industry. John formerly chaired the NCREIF PREA Reporting Standards Board, which promulgates information standards for institutional real estate investment.
John actively participates in several professional associations, including the Counselors of Real Estate, (Director, former Investment Committee Chair), National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (former board member), and Pension Real Estate Association.
A graduate of Merrimack College, John received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and has published several articles and speaks frequently on institutional real estate investment matters. He is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and holds Series 7 and 63 Securities licenses.
